The delayed Rosetta mission got a new target. Lift off will be in 60 days. Reason of the late start was the problem with the Ariane 5. But we Europeans will get our comet - only a little bit later.

Vielleicht besteht Hoffnung, das Bam sein Wahrzeichen zurückbekommt: Italien hat sich schon bereiterklärt, die Citadelle wieder aufbauen zu wollen. Hoffentlich folgen den Worten Taten sobald sich die Lage in Bam wieder weitgehend normalisiert hat, sofern das überhaupt möglich ist.

The official Iranian News Department IRNA (english) is informing about the desaster. Unfortunately the concret heads of the religious government excluded help from Israel by name. This shows again that the leaders of the Iran are not looking really for their people. At least the accept help from the "Great Satan" USA.

Until now not much information about the catastrophal quake in Bam is available but according the news the impact must be desastrous. The fact that the Iranian government was pleading for help says everything. To give an impression what mankind maybe lost in a matter of seconds I post some sites with pictures and information about Arg-e-Bam.
We should do everything to help the Islamic Republic of Iran to overcome this tragedy.

Das Ausmass der Zerstörung scheint extrem. Es wird inzwischen offiziell von 20.000 Toten gesprochen, was bei einer Einwohnerzahl von 120.000 ein sechstel wäre. Allerdings scheint nicht ganz sicher, wieviele Leute überhaupt in Bam wohnen.
Laut Spiegel ONLINE sind internationalen Rettungsdienste eingeflogen worden. Es scheint, als ob wenigstens einmal die politischen Starrköpfe der iranischen Regierung reagiert haben.
