Politicians are world champions in doing compromises. Often it seems that this is the only possibility to find a way out of a cul-de-sac. I mentioned some articles before the movie Junta (Garage Olimpo) which is now playing in some small cinemas. The movie describes the life of a torture victim while Argentina was controlled by the militaries. The movie is playing as well in the culture centre Linse, Weingarten at the end of August. After democracy came back in business 30000 people were vanished without a trace but the responsible guys for this massacre were never really punished. They life lives like ordinary people, trying to be politicians, and so on. The normal play after the overkill that we Germans saw quit good after the Nazi dictatorship. A lot of the fuckers gained again power. But this time they said they are good democrats. The victims and their relatives had never a chance to ask for justice. But today the former torturers have it not so easy anymore because the internet gives the formerly hunted a mighty tool to yell out their pains. You can find the ugly Argentinian military bastards under this link. Don't forget these faces. And if You see one of these guys than treat him with the fitting disrespect. These guys earn nothing more than our deep contempt.
The movie Junta is today very important. Our civilised countries have discovered again torture to force confessions (not only the Americans!!!). Till now it seems that only the bad guys are the "victims" but this can be only the beginning and we should fight this development.

Gerade bin ich meine Mail durchgegangen. Ein Kollege meinte, er kenne nur einen Film aus Down Under und der wäre Once Were Warriors. Ohne Frage: Lee Tamahori hatte damals ein glückliches Händchen, als er die Parabel von Liebe und Gewalt in drastischen Bildern verfilmte. Bilder, die er sich in seinen heutigen Filmen (im letzte James Bond führte er die Regie - konnte aber meines Erachtens nicht wirklich neue Akzente setzen - dafür pisste er 90% der Koreaner ans Bein) wohl nicht mehr leisten kann. Die neuseeländische Filmkunst bietet aber mehr. Letztes Highlight ist der Whale Rider von Niki Caro. In Neuseeland war der Film ausserordentlich erfolgreich und übertrumpfte (nicht gerade verwunderlich heutzutage) die aktuellen Hollywood-Produktionen problemlos. Ob gerechtfertigt, weiss ich leider noch nicht. Die Zeit in NZ reichte leider nicht mehr für den Film. Jedoch erwarb ich am letzten Tag noch das zugrundeliegende Buch von Whiti Ihimaera gleichen Namens. Der Maori-Autor ist auf den Inseln der langen Wolken ein Schriftsteller-Star und ich bin schon darauf gespannt ihn kennenzulernen.

Gestern abend war mal wieder Kino angesagt. Noch meine persönliche Pleite vor Augen (eingepennt während des Streifens Hero) versuchte ich mich dieses mal wirklich zu konzentrieren. Und es klappte. Den Untertiteln sei dank ;-)
Die spannende Handlung und die überraschenden Wendungen im Film machten es zudem recht schwer, die Äuglein zu schliessen. Die Handlung spielt im heutigen Buenos Aires, Argentinien. Zwei Trickdiebe machen einen Tag lang gemeinsames Spiel. Doch wächst ihnen die Sache über den Kopf, als ein Satz wertvoller Briefmarken ins Spiel kommt.
Der Film macht es dem Zuschauer nicht einfach. Schon bald muss man sich ordentlich konzentrieren, um der Handlung zu folgen. Doch macht es Spass, den beiden Ganoven bei ihrem täglichen Business über die Schulter zu schauen. Und dann kommt noch die heute schon obligatorische Wende am Schluss, die trotzdem überrascht.
Fabiàn Bielinsky zeigt mal wieder, dass es auch ohne grossen Aufwand geht. Der Film dürfte nicht allzu viel gekostet haben, doch fasziniert seine Story den Zuschauer. Die Darsteller können mehr als überzeugen und wirken durch die Bank symphatisch. Man kann sich mit ihnen identifizieren. Ein Besuch des Filmes ist in jedem Fall lohnenswert, kann man sich doch endlich mal wieder erholen von dem Schlachtenlärm Hollywoods. Hier darf man mal wieder sein Gehirn in den Kinosaal mitnehmen. Wie in der Schweiz üblich wurde nicht synchronisiert, nur untertitelt. Manch einem mag das abschrecken, doch muss man sich vor Augen halten, dass eine Synchro keinem Film gut tut. Die Charakter leiden darunter und teilweise werden sogar Zusammenhänge verfälscht. Dazu kommt die immer schlechter werdende Qualität der Übersetzungen.
Die Neun Königinnen darf man sich ohne schlechtes Gewissen anschauen. Ein Lerneffekt ist auch noch da: Immerhin wird erklärt, wieviele Schwule es auf der Welt wirklich gibt.
P.S.:Hab den Film wirklich durchgehalten ohne zu schlafen - dafür pennte mein Kollege ;-)

We stayed over the night in the Knorrhut. Next day, Monday, we stand up early and started at 6.30 am to hike up the last meters. We had still nearly 900m to climb up. And the distance was not too far. Means the way was quit steep. But the nice weather made the ascent really comfortable. After 1 hour you can see the trash of civilisation on the top of the mountain.

But I was informed that for the time of the year it is not much. In the background the cables of the cable car going up from the skifield to the top are visible. This is the only one we used (on the way down to safe some time).
On the way up we decided to do it on foot. The last part of the ascent is quit exhausting but I think it is worth.

On the top after we conquered the summit a real good Weisswurst breakfast was waiting for us. As well we had again the compulsory Radlermass. It was a real nice breakfast and the people up there in the DAV hut are quit funny. There was a US women asking for the safest ride down the mountain (haha). It is always funny to hear a real Bavarian trying to speak English. As well it is always nice to see Americans worried about their safety ;-) We thought it would be a fitting answer to say, that no US jetfighter is nearby and so it is quit safe to use the cable car. But maybe it would have been too sarcastic.
Finally we know now that the way from Garmisch up to the Zugspitze and back is 4 Radlermass long ;-)

Arrived at the Knorrhut situated over 2000m in the Wetterstein mountains first action was the order for a shandy (Radler). To sit in front of a great panorama and drink some good beer can be a great feeling. After a tough climb it is for sure one.

But the stay on the Knorrhut was not for everyone so convinient. They use a strange system on the hut to keep an eye on the ordered stuff: A card. This one You should clue at your belly because the waitress of the hut is somehow in a real hurry. She was so pissed about the delay while I searched the sheet in my wallet that she was saying really nasty comments about me. Yeah, this is Bavaria as well. Not all of the natives are friendly ;-) There is a nice description for women like her: Schrapnell (shrapnel or shell in English).

There is quit a long distance between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitze running through the Reintal valley. This part is easy to walk and only some smaller insects deteriorated the nice hike. After the Reintalangerhut the mountains showed their teeth. The Knorrhut is not far away but it is 700m higher. The feet were not really amused about the climb but the view was great and worth the price.

Hiking on the track up to the Zugspitze (the highest mountain in Germany) woke up some nice memories from NZ. In the Reintal we encountered two farmer boys on a motorcycle with their sheeps.


They begged us to stay behind and trink one more beer in the last hut but like good Germans we were not turning by. We hiked straight through the herd. Hopefully the two guys were not too pissed about it.

Recht eindrucksvolles Plätzchen in Bayern: Die Partnachklamm nähe Garmisch-Partenkirchen macht wirklich was her. Nur sollte man den Kopf einziehen. Die Tunnels sind wohl für unsere Vorfahren gebaut ;-)

Das letzte Wochenende stand mal wieder voll im Zeichen der DB. Zumindest war sie für mich wieder das Transportmittel Nr.1. Baden - Ravensburg, Ravensburg - München, München - Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen - München, München - Ravensburg, Ravensburg - Baden über Zürich. Gleich vorneweg: Es war kein Martyrium. Nach dem Ausflug auf die Zugspitze war es sogar mehr als angenehm, sich fahren zu lassen anstatt selber zu fahren. Doch kann ich auch nicht behaupten, dass die DB mich begeistert hat.
Als ich in München wieder einmal den ICE sah, da fühlte ich zweierlei Dinge: Zum einen genoss ich die Schönheit des Zuges. Der ICE ist einfach eine Augenweide und er ist ein angenehmes Reisemittel. Andererseits war da die Angst: Wird es gleich kommen wie in Neuseeland, wo die privatisierte Bahn sich mehr oder weniger selbst wegrationalisierte. Werden die flotten Züge von der Autolawine überrollt oder von den Flugzeugen überholt? Und das obwohl Deutschland neben der Schweiz und Japan wohl eines der besten Schienennetze der Welt hat.
Sicher: Von heute auf morgen wird es nicht passieren, doch stehen die Zeichen auf Sturm. Auf der einen Seite ist immer noch eine geradezu erschreckende Imkompetenz zu finden. Die Bahn mausert sich zwar langsam doch findet man zu oft noch die alte Bahnmentalität bei den Bahnmitarbeitern. Sie scheinen sich ihrer Sache so sicher, das ein Umdenken für sie nicht in Frage kommt. Das Resultat ist ersichtlich: Bis auf die Verbindung München - Garmisch - München war kein Zug der DB pünktlich. Das Expressumsteigen auf den Bahnhöfen und vor der Fähre nach Romanshorn nervte gewaltig.
Und dann ist da die Gleichgültigkeit, die man der Bahn oft entgegenbringt: "Mir doch egal, was mit der Bahn passiert - werde sie eh nie benutzen." Diesen Spruch hörte ich die letzte Zeit ziemlich oft. Wenn man einem Transportmittel, welches zum grössten Teil immer noch auf Staatskosten lebt, solchen "Respekt" zollt, dann ist es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis es wegrationalisiert wird. Und dann heisst es wieder, sich dem Risiko Autoverkehr auszusetzen (sozusagen Geld für den Transport zahlen und dann auch noch selber fahren müssen) oder sich am Flughafen bis auf die Unterhose auszuziehen, damit man überhaupt in den Flieger darf: Schöne neue Welt auf die ich eigentlich verzichten will.

Am letzten Dienstag war es soweit: Besuch des Riahi Travel Reisebüros. Das Ticket mit Emirates ist auf dem 23. Juli gebucht. Also passend nach dem Ende des Rutenfest. Der Visaantrag liegt hoffentlich schon in der Iranischen Botschaft in Bern. Wäre natürlich nicht schlecht, wenn das alles klappen würde. Gestern konnte ich noch ein paar nette Bilder aus dem Iran begutachten und ich muss sagen: Es scheint schon ein paar interessante Plätzchen zu geben. Kultur kommt sicher nicht zu kurz. Und dann wäre da ja noch der Damavand. Das Training für den Aufstieg hat auf jeden Fall begonnen.

Wer schon einmal in Neuseeland war, weiss, dass auch Deutsche dort unten vorkommen. Oft trifft man sie sogar in Massen. Ab und zu wird es sogar richtig "hoimelig":

Wohlgemerkt wurde der Gipfel zu Fuss von Garmisch aus erobert. Seilbahn war nicht (nun ja: fast nicht)!

... beschreibt der Spiegel heute morgen auf seinen Seiten. Schwer abzuschätzen, wo das genau hinführen wird. Jedoch sind die Argumente der Gegner begründet. Ein Patent ist nichts weiter als eine Waffe der Faulen, die nicht einsehen wollen, dass nur ständige Weiterentwicklung ihre Position festigen kann. Innovation dürfte so noch mehr auf der Strecke bleiben. Aber wir werden ja sehen. Wie richtig angemerkt, werden die Software-Patente so oder so kommen. Auch in Europa.

Na toll! Da habe ich heute einen netten Router bekommen und musste zu meinem Entsetzen feststellen, dass der sich andauernd ins Internet einwählte. Kein Programm schien dafür "zuständig". Und was wars: Ein Wurm! Muss schon ein geiles Gefühl sein, so ein Stück Scheisse zu programmieren. Da muss es doch Leuten extrem langweilig sein. Mir wird es das auf jeden Fall nicht allzu schnell. Solange so nette Binärdaten durchs Netz spuken, kommt man sicher nicht früh ins Bett (ist mal wieder Mitternacht). Allerdings hat nicht alles gegen mich gearbeitet: Zone Alarm half zuverlässig, dass Problem zu isolieren und AntiVir hat die Unholde gekillt. Beide arbeiteten zum Nulltarif. Wenigstens etwas.

War between people and peoples.
Confrontation is not productive. It never was. But nowadays it is popular again. You see it in stupid commercial TV productions, at work and between producer and customer. I bought last week the Sonic Seducer magazine. There I found two pages dedicated to artists. They commented the actual trend to copy CDs instead to buy them. Some of them were not too bad but like Joachim Witt showed us radical opinions were as well part of their thoughts.
When I was young and I saw my first computer (a Commodore C64) most of the games were pirated. It was getting better with the Commodore Amiga. But as well games and software was not only bought. A big part of it was copied. The game producers had I tough time and they earned not too much. But the interesting thing is, that a lot of the guys are still in business. They were not stopping to be game programmers and doing the dishes in big hotels. Instead they built up an industry which is nowadays as powerful as the movies.
The technology was evolving itself. Industry brought us the CD which was said to be resistant against scratches (definitive a lie) and better sounding (still vinyl is in business because not everybody is believing this). The CD was sold 5 Euros over the price of a LP. In the beginning industry made the high production costs responsible for this but like taxes the prices were only going up. No problem for me. I have the money. But is this the case for everybody? That were the ordinary people thinking when they see the top stars flying in their own planes because they can afford it? In any case the time after the introduction of the CD are golden for producers and artists. But they forgot two things. First of all the decadent behaviours of some very successful artists gave the ordinary people the impression that not paying music is okay, because there must be enough money. The life style of for example Michael Jackson seemed to gave them right. The second thing was the evolution of technology. The CD was something final in their heads. There would be nothing after it. But like so often time proofed them wrong. Now they have to fight something new. And they try it again like in good old Amiga times. There a software studio published a really great game with the comment, that it will be the last, if the community is not willing to pay for it. It was the last game from this studio for the Amiga ... but it was not the last computer game.
This war fought with laws, copyrights and artificial restrictions was lost a long time ago. There must be new beginnings, new ideas, new concepts. The artists must evolve themselves. If this evolution is not successful the branch will extinct. This is nature in their most brutal form. This is capitalism!
